Las Cruces police asking for help identifying shooting suspects

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Las Cruces police want your help in finding the people who were travelling in two different vehicles involved in a shooting Monday.

Witnesses said the suspects were involved in a chase and occupants of both cars were firing rounds at each other.

Police said the shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. and appears to have started near Fregner Park in south-central Las Cruces.

At least one residence was hit by gunfire on south Espina Street, but no injuries have been reported.

Based on surveillance video, police believe the two vehicles involved were a black Nissan Maxima, which was chasing a red Hyundai Sonata.

Las Cruces-Doña Ana County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the identification of those involved. Tips can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the Las Cruces Crime Stoppers app, 'P3 TIPS.'
