USPS Operation Santa is back allowing strangers to participate in the gift of giving

MGN

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The holiday season is known to be the season of giving, and a tradition that is over a century old is back to help you help those in need.

USPS Operation Santa turns 111 years old this year, and for the first time ever, the program is open before Black Friday.

The program relies solely on the generosity of strangers, according to officials. It provides people the opportunity to help children and families celebrate the holidays the way those more fortunate are able to.

USPS Operation Santa is not a guaranteed gift-giving program, but rather relies on people to adopt letters to Santa that were sent to their post offices. People can begin reading and adopting these letters now.
