Terry Ortiz, owner of Cradles & Crayons Kids Cafe, told ABC-7 her goal had always been to reopen the business on Monday, April 29, despite not knowing how she would fix the damage caused to her establishment.

“We didn't know how we were going to do the rock wall, our priority was going to be to get everything cleaned out in the outside and get the restaurant back going," said Ortiz.

The Kids Cafe opens from Monday through Friday from 4p.m. to 6p.m. and serves more than 180 free meals for kids in the community who stay for after school programs or whose parents may not be home.

DAV General Construction, another local business, offered Ortiz to rebuild the establishment's rock wall after finding out through social media of the incident.

Andy Rodriguez, co-owner of DAV General Construction, told ABC-7 that they not only rebuilt the wall but reinforced it by making it 5 feet tall in case another similar incident ever happened.

“We did see that they give back to the community, most importantly, get back to children. And that's something that really inspired us to see in what way we could help," said Rodriguez.
