National Seat Check Saturday provides child car seat safety for El Paso Families

El Paso, TX (KVIA) -- El Paso families had the chance to ensure the safety and proper use of their child car seats during National Seat Check Saturday organized by the El Paso Regional Car Seat Partners.

The event took place at the El Paso Children’s Multispecialty Center on September 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) worked one-on-one with parents to inspect car seats, identify potential safety concerns, and demonstrate the correct way to install and secure each seat. Technicians also helped determine when a car seat should be replaced. Eligible families were able to receive a new seat at no cost and were guided on its proper usage.

The event brought together organizations from across the community to help families have a better understanding of child passenger safety as well as reducing the risks common to improperly installed or incorrectly used car seats.
