EPCC hosts former astronaut to encourage young individuals to vote

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Community College (EPCC) Student Government Association and Campus Leadership & Student Life hosted former NASA astronaut Dr. Danny Olivas, who represents Astronauts For America (AFA) as part of the “VOTE FOR FREEDOM” non-partisan national college tour.

EPPC organizers say the "Vote for Freedom" tour is a nationwide initiative to encourage young individuals to think about their future and to get out and vote.

Dr. Olivas participated in a moderated ‘fireside chat’ with EPCC faculty and students, followed by a discussion with student leaders.

Dr. Olivas told ABC-7, "This is something that we want to try to encourage young people to get involved because it is about their future. It is about the future of America. It's about getting them involved in the civic engagement of the United States to make this country what they want it to be, and not what their parents want it to be, because ultimately, you know, their future is being decided today."
