Dozens of high school marching bands compete at 33rd Annual Marchfest

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Socorro Independent School District (SISD) hosted the 33rd Annual Marchfest Saturday, where 22 marching bands from across the Borderland competed against one another, showcasing their skills.

Bands from Canutillo, Clint, El Paso, Fabens, San Elizario, Socorro, and Ysleta School District High schools are set to compete Saturday at the SISD Student Activities Complex (SAC).

SISD says the performances will be evaluated by professional judges from across the country using national marching band competition standards in a preliminary-and-finals format.

School officials say Marchfest provides students an opportunity to showcase their musical talent, precision, and performance skills while competing against some of the region's top marching bands.

Below is a schedule of the times when schools categorized in Classes A, B, and C will be playing:

Class C Preliminaries – 9:45 a.m.

Class B Preliminaries – 12:45 p.m.

Class A Preliminaries – 2 p.m.

Finals competition – 5:30 p.m.

Drum Major Retreat and Awards – 9:05 p.m. 

Bands in Classes A, B, and C will perform throughout the day, with the top groups advancing to the finals competition beginning at 4:20 p.m. The Drum Major Retreat and Awards Ceremony will follow at 9:05 p.m.
