Northeast El Paso man arrested with multiple weapons, ammunition, body armor after allegedly shooting at neighbor’s home

UPDATE, Dec. 29: Police announced the arrest Wednesday of a 39-year-old northeast El Paso man for allegedly firing shots at a neighbor's home the day prior, although fortunately authorities said the neighbor wasn't injured in the gunfire.

39-year-old John Michael Connelly was being held in the downtown jail on $58,000 bond on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession charges.

In an incident report, police wrote the following...

"Officers arrived (in the 11100 Block of Redstone Cove Drive around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday) and as they were walking towards the residence they heard several gunshots and began to run towards the area. Officers then observed John Michael Connelly walking between the victim’s house and his house, Connelly was armed with a shotgun and handgun. Officers ordered Connelly to drop the weapon, Connelly dropped the weapon and was taken into custody. Further investigation led to the seizure of several weapons, ammunition, body armor and narcotics."

ORIGINAL REPORT, Dec. 28: EL PASO, Texas -- A victim was assaulted Tuesday morning during a shots fired incident in a northeast El Paso neighborhood.

Crimes Against Persons detectives were summoned to 11147 Redstone Cove around 10:20 a.m.

Police said they were investigating what they described as an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

There was no immediate word on the extent of the victim's injuries and whether that person was shot or wounded in some other manner.

Typically, CAP investigators respond to a crime scene when a person has been seriously injured or killed.
