Woman who failed to yield right of way killed in East El Paso crash, police say

Update: El Paso Police say 69-year-old Silvia Resendiz Alonzo died in the crash. The investigation into her death is still ongoing, according to police officials.

Investigators say Alonzo was trying to make a left turn onto Montwood when she was t-boned by another driver. Emergency crews rushed Alonzo to the hospital where she died.

Police say Alonzo's failure to yield the right of way and the other driver's speed contributed to the crash. Police have not yet said if any charges will be filed in the case. ABC-7 is working to find out more details.

This is the 12th traffic fatality in El Paso this year compared to 12 this time last year.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Special Traffic Investigators with the El Paso Police Department are on the scene of a serious crash in East El Paso.

A spokesperson says that the crash caused "serous injuries." It happened at Montwood Drive and Seagull Drive, right next to Tierra Del Sol Elementary School.

Police say that two cars were involved in the collision. They did not provide any additional details. ABC-7 has a crew going to the scene as we work to learn more information.
