Female passenger runs away after Upper Valley crash that killed 17-year-old boy
Update (12:01 PM): El Paso Police say the 17-year-old driver of the single vehicle involved in this crash has died.
Police say Robert Menchaca was driving west on the 600 block of Mulberry at 12:19 this morning when, for unknown reasons, his Jeep drifted into the eastbound lane and hit a utility pole. Menchaca died at the hospital.
"There was an unidentified female passenger who left the scene," police officials explain.

Police say this is the 58th traffic fatality of the year, compared with 69 this time last year.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person is seriously injured following a crash in El Paso's Upper Valley.
Police dispatch told ABC-7, units were called to the 600 block of Mulberry Ave. at 12:19 a.m. Friday.
We know that one person was taken to the hospital.
Dispatchers also say that Special Traffic Investigators were called out to the scene.
