Authorities charged a Kansas City-area man who killed a court employee trying to serve an eviction notice and a police officer who responded. Larry Acree, of Independence, Missouri, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault in the wounding of another officer who responded, and three counts of armed criminal action, according to court documents. The shooting occurred when court employee Drexel Mack and another process server came to the home Thursday. He was shot, and then officers responding to the scene were shot at, one struck fatally and the other wounded before Acree was taken into custody.
