Ladder used by drug smugglers found along border fence separating Juarez and Santa Teresa

Federal agents with Mexico’s National Guard discovered a ladder Sunday apparently used to cross over the U.S.-Mexico border fence separating Juarez from Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

In a statement, Mexican authorities said they advised U.S. Customs and Border Patrol that they had confiscated and destroyed “a metal staircase approximately five meters in length, which is presumed to have been used for improper crossing.”

Mexican media reported the ladder was believed to have been used by drug smugglers — and said it was similar to one seized in late September that was utilized to scale the fence from Juarez into Texas.
