EL PASO, Texas -- Parents at an elementary school were attending a Christmas program Tuesday evening when suddenly law enforcement swarmed the school.

Parents told ABC-7 that they were in line to enter the Christmas program at Marion Manor when suddenly a small group of migrants ran into the school with Border Patrol agents chasing them.

Video shared on social media showed law enforcement, including El Paso and state police, searching in the school. The four people being chased were eventually arrested.

ABC-7 asked Border Patrol how they make a choice whether or not to pursue suspects into crowded areas and they sent a statement reading:

“Each situation is determined based on varying factors such as road conditions, severity of offense, threat to the community and many others. As the event evolves, we continue to evaluate the situation to determine whether or not the pursuit will continue. The safety of the community is always at the forefront of any decisions made.”

There is no word yet on what charges the people arrested may face.
