Hundreds of migrants set up camp behind border wall in east El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Seven and a half miles east of Sacred Heart Church is where we have seen hundreds of migrants camped out this month. Hundreds of migrants have also gathered on the US side of the border in East El Paso.
They have tents and blankets to keep warm, as well as fire pits.
El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser says the city will use vacant schools as shelters, and they should be ready early next week. Leeser says the city also plans to bus migrants to their destination with help from the state, provided the migrants are driven where they want to go.
He visited Juarez, saying he wants to understand the situation there, and says he's expecting 12-thousand to 15-thousand migrants to cross into El Paso in the coming weeks.
