Frontier Airlines now offers non-stop flights to Orlando from El Paso
EL PASO, Texas -- Frontier Airlines just made it quicker for El Pasoans to go to Disney World or Universal Orlando as it's now offering non-stop flights from El Paso to Orlando.
The new year-round service will be available three days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
On Wednesday, Frontier Airlines held a ribbon-cutting ceremony as travelers boarded the first direct flight to Orlando.
The flight is 3 1/2 hours long, but allows flyers more convenience.
“It's nice not to have to stop in Dallas, usually we stop in Dallas for an hour or two, but this is going to be nice to go straight through,” said one traveler.
El Paso International Airport has 14 other direct flights from El Paso to places like Seattle, Charlotte and Chicago.
This is the second additional route Frontier has brought in this year; back in March they began direct service to Las Vegas.
Sam Rodriguez, the El Paso Airport Director, has said previously that he also expects various airlines to add 6 additional direct flights, a day, to Austin.
He explained the effort it takes to getting non-stop flights from El Paso.
“It's obviously a big commitment and a big investment from the airlines to set up a new service like this and it really comes down to the support that the community provides and the demand that the community provides to that airline and that flight, to make it successful and continue it in the long term,” said Rodriguez.
A Frontier Airlines representative told ABC-7 that this new Orlando route is a good indicator that the airline would like to continue expanding service in El Paso.
