YISD becomes latest to adopt ‘year-round’ school calendar

EL PASO, Texas— The Ysleta Independent School District Board of Trustees On Wednesday evening Became the latest El Paso County school system to adopt a ‘year round’ calendar for the upcoming school year.

The first day of school will be Aug. 3, which is the date suggested by the Texas Education Agency, which is also the anniversary of the El Paso Walmart shooting.

There will be a pair of two week intercessions in March and October on the YISD calendar, with the last day of school being June 4.

YISD joins the El Paso and Canutillo Independent school districts, who have also adopted versions of a ‘year round’ school calendar.
