Driver hospitalized after crashing into El Paso police squad car

EL PASO, Texas -- A driver was taken to the hospital after their car collided with an El Paso Police Department cruiser late Thursday night, according to police.

It happened along Gateway Boulevard West near Lomaland Drive just after 11 p.m.

The department said the police squad car was parked when the driver crashed into it.

Police said the driver suffered serious injuries. No one inside the police vehicle was hurt, according to police.

There were reports of a chase in the area prior to the crash, but police have not commented on it.
