EL PASO, Texas - The family of a five-year-old boy needs help paying for his treatment as he battles a debilitating neurological disorder.

Anthony Perez Jr. was diagnosed with PANS, which is short for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome.

"He started having ticks and fears and hallucinations," his mother, Christine Perez told ABC-7. "His schoolwork started declining and the teachers would pull me aside and say that he wasn't the same and he couldn't focus. he was depressed."

Because of the disorder, Perez Jr.'s family said he suffers from extreme OCD and thoughts of harming himself and others. His treatment is not covered by the family's insurance, they told ABC-7.
