2 hurt as car runs red light, collides with pickup in Lower Valley

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Two drivers were hurt, one seriously, in a Thursday morning traffic crash at Lower Valley intersection caused by one of them running a red light, El Paso police said.

A car and pickup truck collided on Lomaland Drive at N. Loop Drive just before 6 a.m. after the car ran the light, according to investigators.

The car's driver, 27-year-old Evet Mayfield, suffered life-threatening injuries that include a collapsed lung. Police said the woman was not wearing her seat belt.

The driver of the pickup had broken bones as a result of the crash, but officers said his injuries were non-life-threatening. His name wasn't released.
