SUV goes up in flames outside AutoZone store in central El Paso

EL PASO, Texas -- An SUV parked in front of an AutoZone store in central El Paso went up in flames Wednesday afternoon while the vehicle's owner was inside shopping.

The fire broke out about 3:15 p.m. at the auto parts store located at 1601 Sioux Drive.

After making his purchases, Milton Ivan Montalvo said he exited the store to find flames shooting out of the vents on his 2001 Dodge Durango.

Montalvo initially grabbed fire extinguishers from the store to try and knock down the fire; El Paso firefighters soon arrived and put the fire out.

No injuries occurred and what caused the vehicle to ignite wasn't immediately known.
