Stand With Estela Casas Cancer Foundation to host inaugural 5k, fun run and kid’s dash October 1st

EL PASO, Texas - The Stand with Estela Casas Cancer Foundation is excited to announce its inaugural 5K at Ascarate Park on October 1, 2022, to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Stand with Estela Casas 5K, Fun Walk, & Kid’s Dash features a competitive 5K, a one-mile walk, and children under 9 can participate in the Kid’s Dash! One hundred percent of the money raised during this event stays in our community to provide lifesaving resources and services to financially strapped families to prevent, treat, and recover from a cancer journey.

In partnership with Desert Imaging, up to 200 3D mammogram vouchers to uninsured women above age 40 will be given away. Desert Imaging will also provide onsite mammograms with the Mammos on the Move (MOM) mobile mammography clinic. Albertsons will provide 300 free flu shots and $25 gift cards (limit 2 per family) and Centro San Vicente will provide free COVID-19 vaccines and boosters for ages 6 months and above.

There will also be entertainment, food trucks and vendors. The first 500 people to register for the competitive 5K will receive a finisher’s medal, and trophies for the top 3 finishers and age-group and Kid’s Dash medals will be awarded.

Everyone is also invited to attend A Prayer for Healing and Transformation at the El Paso County Healing Garden. It will be hosted by County Judge Ricardo Samaniego, Estela Casas, and other leaders on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at Ascarate Park to honor our loved ones who are or have been on a cancer journey.
