Ft. Bliss soldier allegedly burglarizes home, says he was “possessed by the devil”

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A Ft. Bliss soldier broke into a home in northeast El Paso, breaking a glass door and allegedly telling the homeowner he was "possessed by the devil," according to court documents.

The alleged break-in happened in the early morning of May 29 on the 5800 block of Regulus Drive, a few blocks south of Parkland Middle School.

According to court documents newly obtained by ABC-7, the homeowners were sleeping when they heard a noise and saw the back door open. One of the victims went to check and found 21-year-old Tristin Isaiah Billingsley had broken a glass door with his fist. The homeowner reported seeing Billingsley's head poking through the glass.

The victim told police that he yelled at Billingsley to get out. That's when Billingsley reportedly told the victim he was possessed by the devil, according to court documents.

The victim managed to keep Billingsley out of the house, containing him to the backyard, although police say that Billingsley punched the victim.

A police officer showed up to the house soon after. The victim's wife flagged the officer down and told him that the victim and Billingsley were still in the backyard. She told the officer she was concerned Billingsley would punch her husband again.

Court documents state the officer held Billingsley's arm until another officer arrived. The pair put Billingsley in handcuffs and took him into custody.
