El Paso pastor is raising funds to help troubled teens

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- "Well, there's nothing like that in the world to see," says Pastor Hugo Garcia of Cornerstone Ministry Church. "Now they return with hope in their eyes... where they're free from what they came up with."

Pastor Garcia has one holiday wish. To send 100 at-risk El Paso teens to a faith based camp.

To do this, Pastor Garcia is directing a play called, "Light of our World."

He's hoping the proceeds from ticket sales will raise 12 thousand five hundred dollars buy next summer.

"The family is broken... parents, a lot of times are on substance abuse and the kids live their lives without hope, without the right parental guidance in their lives and tend to get into trouble," says Pastor Garcia.

While at camp, teens participate in wall climbing, archery, and football. They eat together, sing together and spend quality time with each other.

Pastor Garcia says, "Their lives change significantly...attitudes...kids that were suffering depression and anxiety and those types of things find hope and peace."

With the stage set and lights, sound equipment ready to go, volunteers like Dalia Olivas says "it has a positive impact to the community. Come join us."
