EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Meta gifted the Paso del Norte Community Foundation $2.5 million through its Future is for Everyone Fund. PdNCF said the funds will double the resources available to local nonprofits for El Paso Giving Day.

El Paso Giving Day is on Oct. 15. It's a day of charitable giving in the Sun City founded and organized by the PdNCF. It debuted in 2016.

“Nonprofit organizations provide essential support to individuals, children, and families across our region. This leadership gift from Meta Platforms Inc. will give organizations a meaningful financial boost to help them continue making a difference where it matters most,” said Tracy Yellen in a statement. She's the PdNCF CEO.

In a news release, Meta said the Future is for Everyone fund is an investment for local projects in locations where the company has a data center. Meta is building a data center in Northeast El Paso.

Meta said the fund goes to projects that address community needs involving community enhancement, economic vitality, education and sustainability.

The foundation said Meta's donation will provide up to $25,000 per organization, which will provide more than $5 million for nonprofits working in family services, education, hunger, health and other essential areas.

"We are committed to El Paso for the long-haul and believe that the communities we work in should benefit alongside us," Meta Community Engagement Manager Lauren Zimmerman said in a statement.
