El Paso proposes changing trash, recycling bin placement for collection

KVIA

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Trash and recycling bins could move from the curb to an alley if the City of El Paso moves forward with proposed changes.

Friday, the City of El Paso said the Environmental Services Department invited residents to a series of public meetings to provide feedback on the proposed changes.

The proposal would amend to the city's code to give the director of environmental services the authority to determine the most appropriate collection for gray and blue bins, such as shifting collections from curbs to alleys.

City council must approve bin placements.

Meetings on bin placements start Monday and will happen twice a week until Nov. 18. Below is the schedule.

Nov. 9: 6 p.m. at Westside Regional Command Center, 4801 Osbourne Dr.

Nov. 12: 6 p.m. at the Northeast Regional Command Center, 9600 Dyer St. or 6 p.m. at the Irving Schwartz Library, 1865 Dean Martin Dr.

Nov. 17: 5:30 p.m. at the Wayne Thornton Community Center, 3134 Jefferson Ave.

Nov 18: 5:30 p.m. at the Beast Recreational Center, 13501 Jason Crandall or 6 p.m. at the Pat O’Rourke Recreation Center, 901 N. Virginia St.
