‘We hope to inspire people’; Borderland residents invited to community health fair on Saturday

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Borderland residents are invited to a community health fair this Saturday at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso. The event will include blood pressure screenings, live fitness classes, cooking demonstrations, community vendors, activities for children and giveaways.

The 'Walk It Like I Talk It Health Fair' is free to the public and will be open between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on April 24 at 5001 El Paso Dr. Masks will be required and active-wear is encouraged.

Sanaa Durrani, a graduate student at TTUHSC El Paso, is helping organize the event.

"I think it's really important for the community to experience somewhat of a re-integration into society after months of quarantine and self-isolation," she said. "To do that at a health science center, to do that where there is going to be social distancing and masks implemented is really important."

"We hope to inspire people to make positive changes in terms of wellness but also in quality of life," she added.

Durrani joined ABC-7 at Noon to explain what visitors can expect. You can watch that interview in the video player at the top of this article.
