Sun Bowl Association

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- You can now apply to become part of the 2023-2024 Sun Court.

The Sun Bowl Association is accepting applications until June 16 at 3 p.m. Submit an application online or in-person at 4150 Pinnacle Street, Suite 100.

Interviews start July 8 at 9 a.m. at the Sun Bowl Association offices.

The Sun Court represents the Sun City each year. Those on the court serve as ambassadors at events like the Glasheen, Valles, & Inderman Injury Lawyers Sun Bowl Parade on Thanksgiving morning, as well as the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl football game on December 30, 2023.

The tradition of the Sun Court started in 1935, the same year the Sun Bowl game started.

“We look forward to selecting the best possible candidates to fill the Sun Court and continuing this storied tradition," said Bernie Olivas, Executive Director of the Sun Bowl Association.

The association says it selects contestants on their poise, communication skills, personality, and knowledge of El Paso and the Sun Bowl's history.

To participate, contestants must be full-time college or university students in good academic standing between the ages of 18 and 22. Contestants must not be married or have any children.
