F-16 fighter jet from Holloman AFB crashes; pilot recovering after ejection

ALAMOGORDO, New Mexico -- An F-16 fighter jet from Holloman Air Force Base crashed Tuesday night in a rural area between Alamogordo and El Paso, but no serious injuries were reported.

Military officials said the jet was on a training flight when it crashed around 7:15 p.m. about 80 miles southeast of the base.

The pilot ejected and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Officials said he didn't have any serious injuries and was released. No one else was hurt.

Air Force officials said the cause of the crash had not yet been determined and was under investigation.
