New Mexico Amber Alert issued for 3-year-old Roswell boy who may be headed to Mexico after mom found dead

ROSWELL, New Mexico -- New Mexico State Police issued a statewide Amber Alert on Tuesday afternoon for a 3-year-old boy who authorities believe could be on his way to Mexico.

Osiel Ernesto Rico is 2 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs around 40 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Osiel was last seen on Sunday at a home in the 600 block of East Forest Street in Roswell.

Osiel's mother was found dead inside a home in Roswell on Tuesday morning, ABC affiliate KOAT reported.

Police said the boy is believed to be in danger if he is not located.

Authorities believe Osiel is with 32-year-old Jorge Rico-Ruvira, who is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and and has brown eyes and black hair. He was thought to be driving a maroon GMC Yukon SUV with an unknown license plate number or model year.

Authorities asked anyone with information to contact Roswell Police Department at 575-624-6770 or dial 911.
