Overnight fire chars home in Sunland Park; residents out safely

SUNLAND PARK, New Mexico (KVIA) -- The Sunland Park Fire Department battled a house fire early Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 2 a.m. on the 500 block of First Street.

Firefighters on scene said the home was likely a total loss, but no one was hurt.

A resident told ABC-7 they woke up to the smell of smoke overnight, but everyone in the home was able to get out safely.

Fire crews finally were able to put out the fire around 4 a.m.

A cause for the blaze remained unknown.
