Las Cruces City Council says local pharmacy can sell cannabis despite close proximity to school

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- A Las Cruces pharmacy can sell cannabis despite its close proximity to a school after City Council reversed a denial decision made by The Las Cruces Planning and Zoning Commission in April.

There is a 300-foot minimum buffer distance required between a cannabis facility and a qualifying school. The pharmacy is located adjacent to The New America School.

The City voted 6-to-0 Tuesday to allow Pharmtrue/Mesilla Valley Pharmacy to process and sell CBD-based products.

City Councilor Tessa Abeyta recused herself from the discussion and vote.
