Pedestrian struck, killed in Las Cruces had been running across road, investigators say

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- A 60-year-old man is dead after a Las Cruces Police Department spokesperson says he was struck by a car.

The crash happened just before 6 Sunday evening on the 1900 block of East Lohman Avenue.

Police investigators say a car was driving on Lohman when the pedestrian, Kevin Taylor, started running across the road. Investigators say the driver tried to stop, but she could not avoid hitting Taylor. She stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators. She has not been cited or charged, police officials say.

Taylor suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to UMC in El Paso. He died at the hospital on Tuesday.
