Flash flooding category level 3 out of 4 for the Borderland

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KVIA) -- Brace for impact as we are tracking some of the heaviest rains so far this monsoon season. According to the National Weather Service, El Paso and Las Cruces could see between a quarter and a half inch of rain starting Tuesday.

That amount of rain a small amount of time could lead to flash floods in low-lying areas.

ABC-7 reached out to the New Mexico Department of Transportation about staying safe on the roads with potential flooding.
