Statewide Amber Alert issued for abducted 8-month-old Texas girl

MESQUITE, Texas -- A statewide Amber Alert was issued Monday evening for an 8-month-old Texas girl whom police said was abducted.

The girl, Nyla Crockett, was last seen in Mesquite on Feb. 21, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. She was described as black with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police were searching for 30-year-old Chernario Crockett, but officials have not described the woman's relationship with the missing child. Authorities said she is 5 feet 6 inches tall, 172 pounds, and was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans with black or brown boots.

Authorities asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of the woman and child to call the Mesquite Police Department at 972-216-6241.
