WATCH: Curious foster dogs and kittens meet San Antonio Zoo animals

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Animal Defense League of Texas took field trips to the San Antonio Zoo during June, bringing foster kittens and dogs to look over the zoo animals.

Footage of the interactions, separated by glass, shows kittens curiously investigating leopards and hippos. The dogs met lions, hyenas, giraffes, and a gibbon.

Both nonprofits were severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the field trips serving as zoo animal enrichment while raising awareness for pet adoption.

The zoo reopened on May 29, according to local media.
