Animals Services Center of Mesilla breaks ground on new animal shelter facility

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Members of the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley Board, which includes Las Cruces City Councilors and Dona County Commissioners, broke ground on the new Animal Shelter Facility Thursday.

The new facility is located at 3551 Bataan Memorial.

The facility was approved by voters in the City’s General Obligation (GO) Bond special election back in 2018.

The cost of the new facility is estimated to be at $9.8 million out of a total of $35.6 million in GO Bond Projects.

Other projects in the GO Bond include a new fire station 3 building, improvements to parks and sports fields, and improvements to walking, jogging, biking recreational trails
