EL PASO, Texas – The author of a Los Angeles Blade article reports an El Paso Transgender teen he said was assaulted at an El Paso library is "okay and becoming even more okay."

On Thursday night, El Paso Police sent a news release asking for information on the teen, named Tracey. Police disputed a claim in the article that the El Paso Police refused to take a report about Tracey's assault.

A spokesman for the police department says they cannot find any record of a call for service in relation to an incident of that nature.

The El Paso Police department says it is working with the local Borderland Rainbow Center and PFLAG to ask anyone who has information on this incident to come forward.

"If we do have a person that was victimized, we need to know and we want to help," Sgt. Javier Sambrano, El Paso police spokesman, said.

The author, James Finn, says on Twitter that the "Borderland" reached out directly to him a couple of days ago and that he passed their contact information on to Tracey.

Borderland Rainbow Center executive director, Dr. Brenda Risch, said she was upset how El Paso's LGBTQ services were portrayed in the story.

"That could not be further from the truth in terms of what’s happening," Dr. Risch says.

Dr. Risch wants to make sure El Pasoans know that services are still available locally.
