Detectives: man’s story of how woman was found dead in Socorro filled with inconsistencies

SOCORRO, Texas -- Investigators say a man's account of the day a woman was found murdered in a Socorro bar was filled with several inconsistencies, according to documents obtained by ABC-7.

41-year-old Ronald Adrian Blacksmith is charged with murder in the death of 40-year-old Cynthia Alfarez.

Alfarez's body was found in the back of her bar back on June 10. Investigators say Alfarez was found partially nude with stab wounds to her chest and injuries to her head.

According to a complaint affidavit, when Socorro Police officers arrived at the bar, they found Blacksmith in front of the building covered in blood. As officers approached Blacksmith, he told them, "It's all a dream," "arrest me," and "I should have just gone home."

According to investigators, Blacksmith waived his rights and agreed to speak to detectives. According to the affidavit, Blacksmith told investigators he went to the bar for "one last beer." After he was alone with Alfarez, he said the two entered the backroom, where 20 seconds later, he felt a strike to the front of his head.

When Blacksmith came to, he says he saw the victim lying on the floor unconscious. Blacksmith told investigators he was missing his boots, wallet, knife, and cell phone.

Investigators say they noticed several inconsistencies in Blacksmith's account, including how he didn't initially see the victim but later claimed he woke up on top of her.

Detectives also say they found a fresh bite mark on his right tricep area and several scratches to his forearms consistent with defensive wounds.

Detectives also say they found bloody shoe impressions from Blacksmith's boots on the victim's body.
