Woman accused of pointing gun at El Paso County Sheriff’s Office detention officer

EPCSO

EL PASO, Texas -- A 30-year-old woman is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after investigators say she pointed a handgun at an El Paso County Sheriff's Office detention officer.

Investigators say Monique Anisa Rice had pointed a gun at the detention officer while the officer was at the Sheriff's Office Academy gym at 12501 E. Montana.

Investigators say responding deputies tried to make contact with Rice, who drove away.

Deputies later located Rice at the 13000 block of Alfredo Apodaca, just northeast of the gym. Investigators say a handgun was found inside the home, after executing a search warrant.

Rice was taken into custody. She was also charged with evading arrest. She is being held on a total bond of $23,000.
