UPS looks to hire 100,000 seasonal employees

EL PASO, Texas– UPS said they are gearing up for the busy holiday season ahead of time by hiring more than 100,000 seasonal workers.

UPS said the company is putting the call out early in a hiring process that’s easier and faster than ever.

UPS is looking for people to fill part-time and full-time roles in the U.S. including Seasonal Delivery, CDL Drivers, Package Handlers and Driver Helpers.

In EL Paso UPS currently has 260 open jobs available. The local jobs looking to be filled are 100 Warehouse Workers, 150 Driver Helpers, and 11 Seasonal Drivers.

Seasonal package car driver positions begin at $21 per hour.
Seasonal tractor-trailer positions begin at $21 per hour.

Also looking to hire in preparation for the holiday season are local businesses throughout the Borderland.

Savage Goods is among those looking for Bakery team members for seasonal hire. The company told ABC-7 that after the month of August they start getting more busy and needing extra help to fulfill holiday requests.

"We are really looking to put together a good system this year as we get super busy to make sure we’re able to handle all the volume we're going to have," said Luke Savage, Manager.

Workforce Solutions Media Producer Kandolite Carson tells ABC-7 that 7,800 jobs were added from July to August in El Paso.

Along with an increase in openings, more people are going back to work.

Workforce said it is seeing a downward trend with the unemployment rate at 4.8 compared to 6.3 this time last year.
