Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Disney oversight board votes to sue company

The board overseeing Disney’s special taxing district, which was appointed by and is aligned with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, voted on Monday to sue Disney. It comes after Disney filed its own lawsuit against the new board.

The conflict between DeSantis and Disney started after Disney's former CEO criticized a Florida law restricting the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools.

After those comments, DeSantis moved to take away the self-governing privileges Disney has had for more than 50 years.

Disney says the move was politically motivated and punishes Disney for exercising its first amendment free speech rights.
