Federal judge in Florida blocks key Biden immigration policy as Title 42 expires

(KVIA) -- A Florida federal judge is blocking the federal government from releasing migrants that have been processed. Politico reports the decision temporarily blocks an important part of the Biden administration's immigration plan as Title 42 is lifted Thursday night.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis pushed the opposition to the White House's plan through the courts. In his ruling, U.S. District Judge T. Kent Wetherell says he already decided in March that a similar parole policy was unconstitutional.

The judge's order will go into effect 9:59 p.m. (MT) Thursday, to coincide with the lifting of Title 42. The Biden administration has until then to ask for a stay from a higher court.
