UPDATE: New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham released a statement about the Farmington shooting.

“I am receiving frequent updates on the situation in Farmington as it evolves. I am grateful to law enforcement for their quick response and that there does not appear to be any ongoing threat to public safety. I have directed the state to provide whatever support the city and county need as they conduct a thorough investigation and as the community begins to heal. I am praying for the families of the victims, the wounded and the entire community of Farmington following this horrific tragedy. Although details continue to emerge about this incident, this serves as yet another reminder of how gun violence destroys lives in our state and our country every single day. This administration will not stop fighting the epidemic of gun violence from every angle possible,” said Lujan Grisham.

(CNN) -- Multiple people were shot and at least three killed in a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, police said in a Facebook post.

Officers were involved in a shooting with a suspect, who was killed on scene, police said. Two officers were shot and are being treated for their injuries in the hospital, but are in stable condition.

"The suspect's identity is unknown and there are no other known threats at this time," police said in the post.

There was no immediate information on where the shooting occurred.

The Phoenix division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) tweeted that it was "responding to a report of a mass shooting" in Farmington.

CNN has reached out to the city's mayor and the New Mexico governor for comment.

Farmington is located in northwestern New Mexico, just south of the Colorado state line.
