Las Cruces Police arrest man for allegedly assaulting officer, stealing car

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- A Mesilla Park man is facing two counts of aggravated assault against a police officer, and one count of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

27-year-old Andrew Lozoya was arrested Friday on the 900 block of Stephanie Court in Las Cruces and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. At this time he is being held without bond, according to jail records.

Officers with the Las Cruces Police Department accuse Lozoya of assaulting an officer and stealing a car. He is also charged with aggravated fleeing from an officer and resisting or obstructing, according to records from the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
