Road closures in El Paso County, Las Cruces for the week of May 22 to May 26

EL PASO, Texas -- From west to east El Paso, to Southern New Mexico there's a construction project in almost every part of the Borderland. Here's a complete list of TxDOT's and Las Cruces road closures May 22 to May 26.

Guardrail Repair Project

Monday, May 22

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-10 eastbound between Redd and Thorn right lane closed.

Tuesday, May 23

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-10 westbound between Dallas and Downtown right lane and Downtown (19A) exit ramp closed.

Maintenance

Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • I-10 eastbound at Schuster alternate lane closure.
  • I-10 east and westbound between Trowbridge and Buffalo Soldier alternate lane closures.

Crews will be repairing crack seal on bridge deck.

  • Gateway West between Copia and Raynor left lane closed.
  • I-10 West at Copia exit closed.

Crews will be cleaning.

I-10 Widening West

Beginning Monday, May 22, at 6 a.m. and continuing until further notice

  • South Desert Boulevard will be closed to all traffic from the Vinton Road onramp to Los Mochis Drive.
  • DETOUR: Enter Eastbound I-10, then take Exit 6 (Spur 16/Loop 375/Transmountain Road).
  • LOCAL TRAFFIC ACCESS: From SH 20 (Doniphan Drive), take Los Mochis Drive, then turn right on South Desert Boulevard.

Crews will be working on the frontage road.

Monday, May 22, through Wednesday May 24

9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Westbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic between Transmountain Road and Vinton Road.
  • DETOUR: Take Exit 6A (Spur 16/Loop 375/Transmountain Road), continue on North Desert Boulevard, re-enter I-10 past Vinton Road.

Crews will be relocating concrete safety barriers.

Beginning Tuesday, May 23, at 5 a.m. and continuing until further notice

  • Westbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane at David Road between Transmountain Road and Vinton Road.

Crews will begin demolition work on an existing bridge.

Beginning on Tuesday, May 30, at 6 a.m.

  • The westbound on-ramp from North Desert Boulevard to westbound I-10 at Redd Road will close permanently.
  • DETOUR: Continue on North Desert Boulevard, enter I-10 past Artcraft Road.

Crews will begin construction of a new Artcraft exit ramp.

Montana Frontage Road Project

Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26

Daily, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

  • Montana Avenue (US 62/180) eastbound turnaround closure at Global Reach Drive

Crews will be forming and placing sidewalk and stamped concrete

Daily, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

  • Montana Avenue (US 62/180) westbound shoulder closure from Limerick Road to Global Reach Drive

Crews will be forming and placing sidewalk and stamped concrete

Tuesday, May 23

  • Montana Avenue (US 62/180) east and westbound left lane closure from Global Reach Drive to Limerick Road

Crews will be relocating a low-profile barrier

I-10 Widening East

Monday, May 22 through Friday May 26

Daily, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

  • Gateway West Boulevard right lane closure from Eastlake Boulevard to Bill Burnett Drive.

Crews will be pouring sidewalk

Monday, May 22 through Friday May 26

Daily, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

  • I-10 east and westbound left lane and shoulder closures at Eastlake Overpass

Crews will begin structure repair on CTB barrier

Monday, May 22 through Friday May 26

  • I-10 east and westbound shoulder closure from Eastlake Exit Ramp to Eastlake Overpass.

Crews will be installing cable barrier

Loop 375 Widening Project

Sunday, May 21 through Thursday, May 25

Nightly, 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

  • Americas Avenue (Loop 375) northbound main lane closure from Zaragoza Overpass (POE) to North Loop Entrance Ramp
  • Pan American Underpass and North Loop Underpass will be closed

Crews will be working on bridge structures

Monday, May 22 through Thursday, May 25

Daily, 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

  • Americas Avenue (Loop 375) northbound main lane closure from North Loop Exit Ramp to Zaragoza Entrance Ramp (POE)

Crews will be working on bridge deck and concrete paving

Daily 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

  • Americas Avenue (frontage road) north and southbound alternating lane closure from North Loop Drive to Zaragoza Road (POE)

Crews will be installing utility wiring

  • Americas Avenue (frontage road) northbound left lane closure from Pan American Exit Ramp to Pan American Intersection

  • Cesar Chavez Highway and Americas Highway (Loop 375) north and southbound from Yarbrough Overpass to Pan American Overpass

Crews will be working on an overhead sign bridge

I-10 Guardrail Upgrades

Wednesday, May 17 until further notice

  • 1-10 East and westbound left lane closures between Horizon overpass to Clint overpass

LAS CRUCES

  • Northrise Drive, between Sonoma Ranch Boulevard and White Sage Arc, will be reduced to one lane – eastbound and westbound – from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, to Thursday, May 25, 2023.
  • As part of a Crack Sealing Maintenance Project, temporary lane closures will begin Monday May 22, 2023, for the following city streets. The work is scheduled to take five working days. For the public’s convenience, crews will only work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Alliance Drive: From the cul-de-sac to Advancement Avenue. That work will be in City Council District 4.
    • Industrial Park Avenue: From Rea Boulevard to Alliance Drive. That work will be in City Council District 4.
    • Mars Avenue: From the end of the pavement to Del Rey Boulevard. That work will be in City Council District 5.
