Sinkhole opens up below car in El Paso’s Lower Valley

UPDATE: According to El Paso Water, a main break caused a portion of the pavement to open. The front end of a vehicle became stuck in the opening, which measured approximately 10 feet by 10 feet.

Two passengers were pulled to safety, and no injuries were reported.

Residents in the immediate area were without water service, but has now been restored.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- First responders were called out reports of flooding on the 9700 block of Penjamo Drive in the lower valley Tuesday. Officials confirm that units are responding to that address.

An ABC-7 crew at the scene reports that a sinkhole opened up in the middle of the street. The crew reports seeing a car half-submerged in the sinkhole.
