Ysleta ISD identifies student killed in rollover crash in East El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Ysleta Independent School District has confirmed the name of the person killed in a crash along Montwood Drive near Catnip Street in East El Paso. That's close to Eastwood High School.

District officials say Dante Luna was killed in the crash. Luna is a senior at Eastwood. Graduation is scheduled for June 6.

A district spokesperson issued the following statement.

"With heavy hearts and great sadness, the Ysleta Independent School District confirms the passing of beloved Eastwood High School senior Dante Luna, who was involved in a traffic accident this morning on Montwood Boulevard. On behalf of the Ysleta ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre, we extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the student’s family and loved ones, and we join with them in grieving this devastating loss. We offer our heartfelt wishes for comfort, peace, and strength to them and the entire Eastwood High School community during this incredibly difficult time. Ysleta ISD counselors are available at the campus for students and staff who may need additional help dealing with their grief. Students, staff, and their families may also seek additional support through Ysleta ISD’s partnership with Care Solace; those services may be accessed at www.caresolace.org."
