El Paso Water offers rebate programs to conserve water and save money

EL PASO, TX (KVIA) -- El Paso Water offers two initiatives aimed at promoting water efficiency in the community - the "Cash for Commode" rebate program and the "WaterWise Business Rebate Program."

The "Cash for Commode" rebate program encourages residents to replace their old, water-guzzling toilets with newer, more water-efficient models. These WaterSense-labeled toilets use only 1.28 gallons of water per flush, potentially saving thousands of gallons each year.

To participate, customers must fill out an application and provide proof of purchase within 60 days of buying a WaterSense toilet, purchased after June 1, 2023. If approved, rebates of up to $50 per toilet (up to two toilets per household, totaling $100) will be applied to the customer's water bill within two billing cycles.

El Paso Water's "Cash for Commode" program offers an opportunity to both save money and contribute to water conservation efforts in the community. You can purchase “WaterSense” toilets at any major hardware store, the box will have a sticker that certifies it is EPA approved.

El Paso Water's commitment to water conservation extends beyond households with its "WaterWise Business Rebate Program." This initiative is tailored for local businesses and institutions, aiming to facilitate long-term water efficiency gains through a cooperative effort between EPWater and these establishments.

Businesses participating in this program may receive site-specific rebates towards the cost of new water-saving equipment and processes at their existing facilities. Eligible projects cover a wide range, from replacing water-cooled equipment with air-cooled alternatives to implementing smart water management systems for irrigation.

To be eligible, commercial customers must meet specific criteria, including being connected to the EPWater potable water distribution system for at least the past year from the date of application at their current location.

Rebates under this program cover 50% of equipment costs, up to a maximum rebate of $15,000, making it a substantial incentive for businesses looking to conserve water and reduce costs.

Both programs underscore El Paso Water's commitment to water conservation and building a more sustainable future for the community. Whether you're a homeowner or a business owner, these initiatives offer valuable opportunities to save money and contribute to our community.
