Police identify driver in deadly single-vehicle crash that caused closure of I-10 East near Redd Road
UPDATE -- : The El Paso Police Department confirmed the identity of the person who died. They say 24-year-old Ruben Garfio was driving Eastbound at a high rate of speed when he veered off the road and struck a large cement pillar.
Police said investigators are awaiting further testing to determine if alcohol was involved.
This is the 54th traffic fatality, compared to 51 at this time last year.
UPDATE (6:50 am): El Paso Fire Dispatch have confirmed one person dead at the scene.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A single-vehicle crash late Sunday night left portions of I-10 in West El Paso closed for hours.
All lanes of I-10 East near the scene are closed, according's to TXDOT's incident report.
The crash happened just before midnight.
Nobody has been transported to the hospital, according to First Responders.
In an alert sent by El Paso Police, they stated that Special Traffic Investigators are at the scene.
