Update: Officer-involved shooting in West El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Neighbors are speaking out after an officer-involved shooting in West El Paso Tuesday morning.
Residents told ABC-7 a trespassing suspect shot by El Paso Police used to live in the neighborhood.
"My ex-neighbor got shot because they came back after they got evicted, tried to break in into their old home," said resident, Diego Mendoza.
Police were called out for a report of two men trespassing. Neighbors identified one of the suspects as a man in his 20's named Efrain, who they said was shot by police.
One neighbor close to him said he and a friend used to live in the home, but they were homeless after being evicted.
She believes they came back to shelter themselves from the cold.
Investigators have not said what made police open fire.
Police said one suspect was taken to the hospital in serious condition, the second suspect was arrested.
Police have not identified the suspects.
