4th Annual White ParTEE on The Green
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - A local group is inviting the community to a white par-tee and help raise funds for scholarships.
The 4th Annual White Par Tee at the Green gathers community members and helps them network and reach out to others in the community to provide programs and help local students.
The El Paso Chapter of the Links, Incorporated started in El Paso in 1946 and has been helping fund community programs.
"We have five facets: the main facets are for services to youth, health and human services, national trends and services, international trends and services, and the arts. And within each of those facets we have our volunteers as well as partnerships with other community groups in helping us to facilitate specific programming for each," said El Paso, Texas Chapter of the Links Incorporated President, April Frowner.
Fundraiser efforts help fund a scholarship to help a local student with their career and higher education goals. Frowner says she was a recipient and it helped her start her career.
"My goal is to have more scholarships for this year. This past year we gave out $2,500 to a qualifying student. Next year I hope we have more," said Frowner. "I was one of the recipients of that scholarship when I got out of high school, and it helped me greatly. So I'm hoping that we're able to expand that to other students."
The White ParTEE on the Green will help the organization generate funds for scholarships. It will be at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club on Oct. 17.

The event is more than just a fundraiser, organizers say it is a celebration and opportunity to network, enjoy fellowship and philanthropy.
"We are based in friendship and service," said Frowner of The Links, Inc. "Our mission actually is friends at transforming communities through service. So everything that we do is us being friends within all of our members. We take the initiative to go out and serve the community and just be a reflection of what we wanna see that change here in the community."
On Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. the organization is also hosting their annual Walk for Healthy Living at Album Park by the tennis courts.
A great opportunity to move, connect, live and thrive together, added Frowner.
